Equestrian Challenges

Equestrian Challenges is for the kids who spend all weekend at the stables, the folks who re-home racehorses, the people who can’t ride but love spending time with horses - anyone who is horse-mad but unlikely to win prizes in traditional equestrian sports. Participants sign up for a certain distance and then receive a rosette for completing it, whether on horseback or “in-hand,” with their own horse or a pony from the local riding school. I was hired to create a logo that would work in a variety of contexts, including on rosettes!

The business owner was clear on what she wanted: a traditional-looking yet friendly logo that would “bring that feeling of gleefully clutching a rosette that you and your pony earned in the rain, not quite sure how you did it, but delighted and holding that pride for the next six months.” The typography echoes the shapes and details of the horse’s head and gives a subtle “special day” feeling.

“I came to Rosie with a very clear idea of what I wanted, but gave her free license to use her creativity and experience to tease out the right version of that idea. She was very easy and pleasant to work with and I never felt pressured into things—the process felt very collaborative. She explained things very clearly and simply, and delivered each round of designs promptly. I’m extraordinarily happy with the result. I will absolutely be engaging Rosie’s services again and I highly recommend her to anyone looking for quality work with a personal approach.”
